Black Box Compulsory for Buses!

The government, which has been working to reduce and prevent urban and intercity bus accidents that have recently occurred in our country, is making the use of a black box system mandatory for buses, municipal buses and public buses engaged in public passenger transportation. In the first phase, this system will be mandatory for approximately 500 thousand vehicles engaged in public transportation.

Following the 'Traffic Safety and Road Passenger Transportation' workshop held in September 2017, the Ministry of Interior made it mandatory for all vehicles carrying passengers, including minibuses, midibuses, buses, service vehicles and municipal buses, to be equipped with cameras by the end of 2019.

STARTING IN 2019

According to the news of Sabah; It will be mandatory to install black boxes that give 99% clear results on vehicles until the end of 2019. With the system that will work integrated with in-vehicle cameras, the causes of traffic accidents will be clearly analyzed. ACCIDENTS WILL DECREASE BY 50 PERCENT

Stating that these two systems are of great importance in terms of making the most accurate determination after an accident, Mustafa Yıldırım said, "With these two systems, the state will identify the problem and try to prevent the issues that cause accidents. With the use of driver warning systems in vehicles, accidents will decrease by 50 percent." Pointing out that driver warning systems should also be mandatory, Yıldırım said that they will discuss this issue with officials from the Ministry of Interior next week.

BLACK BOX

With the black box application, which will be mandatory to be installed in vehicles, issues such as gas and brake pedals, fuel level, gear, handbrake, vehicle speed, fault information, engine, axle, transmission and environmental status; location, route and distance will be examined. The data obtained from black boxes and cameras will be sent to the General Directorate of Security. It will be determined whether the accident was caused by the road, driver error or the vehicle.
